  1. Good luck / Bad luck is caused by spirits. It is much better to trust in God than to trust in spirits.

  2. It’s bad luck for the mouse it’s chasing.

  3. I have know idea ppl believe w/e they want to…doesnt mean u have to believe it to…

  4. I guess you answered your own question. You’re in the right categorey, though.

  5. its bad luck because in the old days the witch hunters believed that black cats were reincarnations of witches than wanted their revenger for being hung.

  6. I was told like that when I was a child. But now I don’t believe it anymore. However, it’s intersting that black cats often appear in horror films. People think they bring bad luck just because they’re black. The black color is the color of sadness, depression, death, funeral. Oh, but do not believe such a thing. In a more fashion oriented way, the black color shows strength and individualism. Anyway, I believe that there’s no such a thing that black cats bring bad luck.

  7. Well that depends on what country you’re in. It was believed that black cats were companions of witches and coming across them would invoke their anger. In UK however, it is believed to be good luck when a black cat crosses your way.

  8. Well it’s said that witches worked for the Devil and that he gave them familiars (demon in animal form) and most of the time they were cats.

They were used to carry messages between the witch and himself and could harm and bewitch enemies.

  9. Back in the day of witches and such it was widely known that witches used black cats as their familiars. As familiars they had a magical bond with the witch being that the witch could use them for scouting, so when a Black Cat crossed a person’s path it was believed that they were the target of the witch that controlled the cat, as the witch was scouting for their victim to perform their magic.

Another variation of this is the old belief that cats have magical powers, (possibly from Ancient Egypt), and with Black Magic being the bad/evil form of magic that would make a black cat crossing your path being black magic intersecting with your life, thus evil coming your way!

According to the various beliefs, you owning and caring for the black cat would be good luck since you are being kind towards the evil thus why would the evil purposely want to hurt you?!? NEVER BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU!

I hope that I have answered your question adequately, and supplied a rationalization to your good luck owning a black cat. Personally I do not believe in this type of thing although I find it interesting. Have a great day!!

  10. They are not bad luck because they are just cats, just like any other cat.

  11. Historically, black cats were symbolically associated with witchcraft and evil. In Hebrew and Babylonian folklore, cats are compared to serpents, coiled on a hearth. Black cats (and sometimes, other animals of the same colour, or even white cats) were sometimes suspected of being the familiars of witches.

I have a black cat too with these huge freaky green eyes!
